2019 Kay Fennelly Summer Literacy Institute Now Accepting Applications for Participation

Summer programs serving rising Pre-K through fourth grades in Orleans Parish are invited to apply for participation in the 2019 Kay Fennelly Summer Literacy Institute, an initiative of the New Orleans Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. The Kay Fennelly Summer Literacy Institute is designed to promote literacy and prevent summer learning loss for New Orleans children as they enter kindergarten through fourth grade. The Institute works with interested summer program providers to support them in the implementation of effective practices to enhance or establish more robust literacy development components of their programs. Interested program providers will receive training, individualized coaching for program and instructional staff, and access to materials that enhance literacy.

The Kay Fennelly Summer Literacy Institute is an initiative of the New Orleans Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, a community collaborative addressing the fact that only 31% of third graders in New Orleans public schools are reading on grade level.
