Hurricane Michael Recovery Fund

United Way of Southeast Louisiana and Entercom announce the launch of the Hurricane Michael Relief Fund to aid in rebuilding efforts for areas affected by the storm.                                                                  

United Way is creating the Hurricane Michael Relief Fund to support local communities in the surrounding areas affected by Hurricane Michael as part of our effort to build stronger communities and fight for the health and safety of every person in every community.

One hundred percent of funds will support mid- and long-term recovery efforts through local United Ways in the areas affected by Michael. 

United Way is also urging local residents with friends and families in the affected areas to encourage their loved ones to contact 2-1-1 and The American Red Cross for immediate relief assistance. 

Please note, UWSELA is not collecting material donations at this time. However, Second Harvest Food Bank (UWSELA-Funded Partner Agency) is collecting material donations to be delivered to partner Feeding American food banks working disaster relief in the impacted area. 
 
SPECIFIC ITEMS NEEDED: 
– Bottled water
– Cleaning supplies – Gloves, mops, brooms, buckets, bleach, eye protection
– Non-perishable food items, especially canned soups with pop-top lids
– Hygiene products: Feminine hygiene products, razors, children’s & adult diapers
– Please note: We are *not* accepting used clothing/blankets at this time.

In response to Hurricane Harvey, UWSELA raised more than $140,000 to support long-term recovery efforts in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.
