Information Collection and Use

United Way of Southeast Louisiana [UWSELA] only gathers personally identifiable data: addresses, zip codes, e-mail addresses, etc. when voluntarily submitted by a donor or the donor’s company’s Human Resources department. This information is used by UWSELA for the purpose of executing the transaction, and may be used by UWSELA for other internal purposes. Also, from time to time, UWSELA may purchase mailing lists from third parties. Except as stated herein, UWSELA will not disclose, sell, share, trade or rent any personally identifiable data it collects.

The information which UWSELA automatically gathers, such as the numbers and frequency of visitors to our site and its areas, is used only in the aggregate; very much like television ratings that tell the networks how many people tuned in to a program. This collective data helps us determine how much our visitors use parts of the site, so that we can improve our site to assure that it is as appealing as we can make it for as many of you as possible. We also may provide aggregated statistical “ratings” information, never information about you personally, to our UWSELA partners about how our visitors, collectively, use UWSELA.

UWSELA may from time to time contract with outside vendors to conduct donor interest and satisfaction research. All outside vendors contracting with UWSELA will sign a non-disclosure agreement stating that personally identifiable data will not be used for any purpose other than for the research project commissioned by UWSELA. We will also release personally identifiable data about you, if necessary, in order to comply with valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena or court order, and UWSELA reserves the right to use all information including personally identifiable data at its disposal and to share this information with ISPs and other third parties as necessary to investigate any incident of misuse or abuse of its site, server, or information systems.

Other web sites that you may link to from our site, including our partners’ (business partners and partner agency) web sites, have their own privacy policies. UWSELA is not responsible for the privacy practices of other web sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of web sites before providing them with any of your personally identifiable data.

Your Security

We take every precaution to protect the safety and security of your transaction both online and off-line. We use a high-grade encryption and the https security protocol, SSL, to communicate with your browser software. This method is the industry standard security protocol, which helps keep your personally identifiable data as secure as possible. While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also protect user-information off-line. Only UWSELA authorized employees are granted access to personally identifiable data. All servers that store personally identifiable data are kept in a secure environment.

Donors are given the opportunity to remain anonymous. the Pledge Form and Specific Impact Card have anonymous check boxes so donors pledging can keep their names from being used in UWSELA publications (our Leadership Booklet, for example) or being released to another agency (should the donor be designating their pledge). E-pledge does not have an anonymous check box at this time.

Updating Personal Information / Pledge Correction

If a donor’s personally identifiable data changes or pledge information changes, please contact your company's campaign coordinator with the new information or write to Barbara Olynick, United Way of Southeast Louisiana, 2515 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 or e-mail her at barbarao@unitedwaysela.org.

If we change our privacy statement, we will post those changes prominently so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and whether we will disclose it to anyone.
