Unified Summer Grants

Many youth in our region face anything but idyllic summer months. When the school doors close, they have little or no access to healthy meals and adequate adult supervision, nor opportunities to engage in academic enrichment, culture and arts programs, sports and physical recreation.

The Unified Summer Grants Collaborative was formed in 2006 to help meet that need. Past and Current Collaborative Members include The Balfour Fund, Citigroup, Emeril Lagasse Foundation, Greater New Orleans Afterschool Partnership, JCPenney Company Fund, Louisiana Family Recovery Corps, Mercy Corps, New Orleans Recreation Department, New York Life Foundation, Save the Children, United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area, and The Wallace Foundation.

This year, the Unified Summer Grants Collaborative (made up of United Way, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation and an anonymous local donor) is funding 34 summer programs totaling just under $250,000 and serving more than 5,000 low-income children and youth in our seven parish region.
