Barbara Turner Windhorst, 2010-2011 Campaign Chair, with Michael Williamson, UWGNOA COO.
On Monday, June 13, United Way held a Victory breakfast at the Westin New Orleans Ballroom to celebrate its successful 2010-2011 Campaign Season. United Way exceeded this year’s goal and raised over $21.3 million. Nearly 250 company representatives and employee campaign coordinators joined together to recognize the top contributors, volunteers and supporters of United Way’s 2010-2011 Campaign.

Top companies and their employees who contributed to the successful campaign included Shell Oil Company, Entergy Corporation and The Folger Coffee Company, who each contributed over $1 million to the campaign in individual and corporate contributions.

"With your help, we raised $21,396,634 for the health and human services of our seven-parish area from over 38,000 donors.  And this year we secured over $500,000 in new dollars and had a fantastic $1 million dollar corporate gift from Smuckers,” said Barbara Turner Windhorst, 2010-2011 Campaign Chair. “We could not have done this without each of your company’s leadership and generosity. Many thanks to all who made this possible, and congratulations on a job well done!”

The Jones Family

Barbara Turner Windhorst was honored at the breakfast and presented an award as a thank you for all of her hard work and dedication to the campaign.

The event also introduced John Hollowell, Executive Vice President of Deep Water, Shell Energy Resources Company, as Campaign Chair for the 2011-2012 Campaign.

Guests were privileged to hear a presentation from the Jones Family, former clients of Phoenix of New Orleans (PNOLA), a United Way Partner Agency. The Jones’ home was rebuilt with the help of United Way’s “Hope for the Holidays” campaign with Darren Sharper and Roman Harper. Timothy Jones, a talented saxophone player, performed “Summertime” for those in attendance.
