Mission 1: January 28
8am - 11am
Second Harvest Food Bank
700 Edwards Avenue, New Orleans LA 70123 (Elmwood area)
Mission Ignition volunteers will be working with Second Harvest to sort, categorize, and pack the food that is donated to the organization through community food drives.

If you are under 18, you must fill out the Second Harvest Permission Slip and bring it with you the day of the event. Remember to wear closed-toe shoes!
12pm-3pm
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park – Barataria Preserve
The volunteer project at the Barataria Preserve will consist natural resource management work, which could include building pig traps, invasive species removal, and spraying herbicide around facilities.

Mission 2: February 4

Tour of Press Street Gardens

Press Street Gardens is an urban farm and outdoor learning laboratory funded by The NOCCA Institute, the nonprofit partner of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. They grow fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs, which are used by NOCCA’s Culinary Arts students in their classroom training.

Blight Reduction with the Broadmoor Improvement Association
Mission Ignition volunteers will be working with the Broadmoor Improvement Association (BIA) and property owners to clear residential lots and remediate trash and debris the Broadmoor neighborhood.

St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School

Mission Ignition volunteers will be repainting, cleaning and refurbishing buildings.
