Polo with a Purpose

Over the course of the last 40 years, the women of the Junior League of Greater Covington has staked their ground on the Northshore at the forefront of volunteer organizing and training. Their lasting commitment to promoting volunteerism gives a clear direction and purpose to individuals seeking out meaningful fellowship and outreach opportunities.

More importantly, the leadership training and professional and personal development resources they provide members plays a major part in helping women reach their full potential and improve their community. The Junior League and its members are credited with the development and nurturing of many, now independent organizations, including Youth Services Bureau, that United Way of Southeast Louisiana supports through our programmatic grants

So much of United Way’s and the Junior League’s work is interconnected throughout the Northshore from our programs and partners, to our extraordinary supporters who drive our missions forward.

United Way is pleased to partner with the Junior League for its 21st Annual Harvest Cup Polo Classic and join in this opportunity for the community to come together on October 15th to celebrate the impacts of volunteerism and learn more about local nonprofit partners through “Polo with a Purpose”.

These grand celebrations allow individuals to invest in the community in a significant way – and this is no exception. The classic is always one of my favorite events of the fall. If you get a chance to attend on Sunday, and I hope you do, be sure to say hello.

I’ll be the one in the bow… tie.
