Martin Luther King Jr. Day Kicks Off the Tricentennial Volunteer Challenge

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, hundreds came out to support the kickoff of a year-long volunteer challenge to celebrate New Orleans' 300th year. The 2018 NOLA Foundation and its Community Engagement Committee - in partnership with United Way of Southeast Louisiana, HandsOn New Orleans, and NetWork Volunteers has embarked on an aggressive project to generate 300,000 hours of service over the course of 2018. This challenge will engage residents and tourists by addressing the issues of equity, resilience, and public safety throughout New Orleans and is estimated to generate $7.2 million in community impact this year upon successful completion of the project.

Volunteers of all ages rolled up their sleeves and spent the morning of January 13th assisting with a rebuild of the Hoffman Prep Head Start Center in Central City. View the photo gallery here

Volunteer projects are continuing to be added to the United Way volunteer site throughout the year. Projects are available for all ages and skill levels. It's the most fun and rewarding way that you can make a direct impact on the communities in which we live and work!

Join our efforts to help complete this challenge. United, we can realize our vision of vibrant, more equitable communities for us all.
