Student United Way

Be the Difference in Our Community

When you volunteer with United Way, you can join our work to transform communities by improving education, achieving financial stability, and promoting healthy living.

Our purpose is to aid early childhood education initiatives through planned activities and donation drives.

Our purpose is to promote financial assistance initiatives through planned donation drives and grocery distribution, and by participating in the local “Beauty and the Dress” prom dress donation.

Our purpose is to aid in supporting health initiatives through a breast cancer awareness walk, fundraising and donation drives.

Meet the President
Student United Way
at Southeastern Louisiana State University

Marcela Saavedra is beginning her sophomore year as Southeastern Louisiana University’s Student United Way President. Her love for volunteering was sparked in high school when she was provided with many opportunities to volunteer with United Way of St. Charles Parish. Marcela is the recipient of the 2014 LIVE UNITED Scholarship.

Her vision for this campus organization is to provide service to identified United Way partner agencies, to reduce the high school dropout rate, to assist families in finding economic independence, and to improve the health of local residents.

Meet the team at Southeastern.
