Volunteers Needed in Tangipahoa Parish

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN TANGIPAHOA PARISH NOW!

We need your help! October 28th marks the final day for debris clean up in Tangipahoa Parish. With over 13 homes assigned to us, we in in immediate need of volunteers - register here. 

In the month following the August floods, United way distributed over half a million items to over 90 churches, government buildings and nonprofits that assisted familes and individuals in need. We were able to offer $120,000 to local programs in Tangipahoa Parish that provided food, school supplies, transportation services for senior citizens and resources to begin rebuilding homes immediately. 

In addition to ongoing relief efforts, United Way of Southeast Louisiana is participating in long term recovery by investing $148,000 in continued assistance bringing our total contribution to the Northshore to $268,000. The grants included supprt for VIA LINK 2-1-1, an information and referral system which connects those who need immediate help with social services in their area. The 2-1-1 network has been able to help 1,445 of our neighbors with flood related assistance and much needed resources.

United Way will also support The Fuller Center of Tangipahoa Parish, Epworth St. Tammany Long Term Recovery and WEROCK in Washington Parish in rebuilding efforts for the parishes affected. All three organizations will work with United Way to identify and assist our most vulnerable families with home repair assistance. Investments were also made to SAFE, serving Tangipahoa and Livingston Parishes to provide immediate assistance to those individuals and families dealing with domestic violence including alternative living expenses.
