WHY YOU SHOULD RUN A UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN AT YOUR WORKPLACE WE’RE CREATING AN IMPACT

We create impact by identifying, assessing and monitoring the most pressing needs in our seven- parish area, addressing not just the symptoms but the root causes of our community’s greatest issues and working proactively to stop the problems before they ever occur.

With a focus on Education, Health and Economic Opportunity as the key building blocks to move individuals and families out of poverty, we strategically fund programs, support collaborations, convene experts, advocate for change and foster new and needed community services to address the issues based on best practices.

In addition to working alongside hundreds of local volunteers to asses and identify our community’s most pressing problems, we held more than 60 community conversations to listen to what individuals across our region thought were the greatest needs in Southeast Louisiana.

We create solutions through our collective impact model of collaborating with other like-minded non-profit organizations, businesses, government entities and individual thought leaders and experts.

In an organized, efficient and effective manner, and utilizing an in-depth vetting process, we invest in these solutions and provide oversight of the measured outcomes that are produced.

We are able to mobilize resources and leverage every dollar invested in United Way through our collaborative work, our volunteer activation and our public policy agendas.

WE’RE LOCAL

United Way of Southeast Louisiana serves seven parishes including Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington, and no other local organization has taken such a broad, objective view of the community as United Way.

We are a community staple and with 90+ years of experience, we will continue our work until all individuals in our region are no longer living in poverty.

The money raised in Southeast Louisiana stays in Southeast Louisiana, and all assessments, investments and measurements are done locally by highly professional staff members.

United Way is an investment in your community, and an investment in yourself. You may already know someone who would benefit from the thousands of services that are available through our work, and one day you may be in a situation where you or your family members are in need of a hand up.

WE’RE DIFFERENT FROM THE REST

With such a broad reach, focusing on three impact areas, in seven parishes, with more than 100 collaborative partners and even more programs and initiatives being invested in, we are able to create systematic change that far exceeds the impact of one single nonprofit organization.

The success we have seen in our public policy work is unprecedented. United Way of Southeast Louisiana has not only utilized volunteers and advocates to secure state-wide funding for vital health and human service programs, but has also worked with legislators to create laws that will literally save lives.

Each dollar invested in United Way creates multiple dollars of impact through the corporate gifts, government funding and volunteer capital we leverage, and our brand recognition and stellar reputation within the region, state and country draws in even more philanthropic support from outside investors.

By fundraising for, advocating on behalf of and engaging volunteers in the work of our smaller non-profit partners, United Way builds capacity for these agencies to create an even greater impact in our community.

With transparent strategies, financial records and outcomes measurement, we display continuous accountability to our donors and volunteer leadership, ensuring that we are best utilizing the money being invested in our work.
