United for Grocery Workers Relief Fund

#ALICEisAlwaysEssential

United Way of Southeast Louisiana, the New Orleans Council on Aging, and Entergy New Orleans are proud to announce a contribution from New Orleans native Anthony Mackie to launch the United for Grocery Workers Relief Fund to support struggling employees throughout Orleans Parish.

The fund will provide a one-time $500 direct credit toward workers’ Entergy New Orleans utility bills.

Overview

Hourly-wage jobs, like grocery and convenience store workers, are often not afforded the same basic workplace protections –  like paid sick leave and adequate health care – of jobs with higher wages and annual salaries, which leaves individuals in these positions especially vulnerable to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The partners want the community to recognize these employees are essential workers year-round – not just in a state of emergency – while providing much need financial support to those in need.

Requirements

Applicants must complete the application below and meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Work in a business that sells groceries
  • Live in Orleans Parish
  • Provide current pay stub to show proof of employment
  • Provide current Entergy New Orleans power bill to show proof of residence (address on pay stub must match power bill)
