Marsiglia Institute Spring 2022 Application

Independent representatives of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and United Way of Southeast Louisiana will review applications for the Marsiglia Institute of Justice. The process will guarantee full diversity and participation from throughout United Way SELA’s seven-parish service region. Up to 24 participants will be selected per semester.

The curriculum was designed and prepared by Martha Lemoine, Mentor Teacher and National Judge for the Center For Civic Education’s “We The People” program.  Expert guest lecturers will be invited to weigh in on important topics. At the end of the course, students will participate in oral hearings based on the 2018 national questions from the “We The People Competition.”

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive formal certificates recognizing them as a “Distinguished Fellow of the Nancy M. Marsiglia Institute of Justice.” To be considered for the program, please fill out the application below.

PLEASE NOTE: The spring 2022 session will fully virtual until at least Jan. 31, 2022, in accordance with Loyola University New Orleans guidelines. When in-person classes resume, the Institute will be offered in a hybrid format with classes hosted in-person at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and virtually. In-person classes will follow all COVID-19 guidelines set by Loyola University New Orleans.
