United Way of Southeast Louisiana is proud to announce our 2019 State Legislative Agenda, “United for a Safe & Prosperous Community,” which continues our advocacy work to lift up those in poverty and ALICE - individuals who earn above the poverty level but still struggle to make ends meet.

A feature on a Louisiana Early Ed Week event hosted by United Way of Southeast Louisiana, Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and Jefferson Business Council earlier this month will be broadcast on television through the Louisiana Hometown Network beginning March 4.
Summer programs serving rising Pre-K through fourth grades in Orleans Parish are invited to apply for participation in the 2019 Kay Fennelly Summer Literacy Institute, an initiative of the New Orleans Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. The Kay Fennelly Summer Literacy Institute is designed to promote literacy and prevent summer learning loss for New Orleans children as they enter kindergarten through fourth grade.
8 area high schools responsible for $67k in community impact through volunteerism
NEW ORLEANS – United Way of Southeast Louisiana named Benjamin Franklin High School on Thursday as the winner of the 2019 Mission Ignition competition, which pits area high schools against each other in a race to collect the most volunteer hours.
At United Way of Southeast Louisiana, we are committed to achieving our vision, shaped with guidance from community stakeholders, of equitable communities where all people are healthy, educated, and financially stable. That’s a big task, and we know achieving it will require long-term commitment and investment in every aspect of the way we work.
Louisiana Early Ed Week is February 11-15
NEW ORLEANS - Business leaders and legislators from across the area joined the United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA), Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and Jefferson Business Council at an event today in honor of Louisiana Early Ed Week.
This week is Early Ed Week in Louisiana, a time to highlight the importance of improving access to affordable, high-quality early care and education (ECE) for all Louisiana families. On Thursday, United Way of Southeast Louisiana will join with the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children, Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, and Jefferson Business Alliance to speak up for increased funding for early care and education in our region.
