Celebrating National Volunteer Week and our ECCs

As we look forward to National Volunteer Week, I want to express our gratitude to all the incredible volunteers who have been the heart and soul of United Way Southeast Louisiana for the past 100 years.

It's impossible to overstate the impact volunteers have had on our community. From building schools to planting gardens, from mentoring youth to offering financial literacy workshops, your dedication has truly improved lives and strengthened communities across Southeast Louisiana.

But today, I also want to shine a spotlight on a vital group within our volunteer network: our Employee Campaign Champions (ECC).

Our ECCs are a quintessential example of true workplace champions who know what it means to Live United. They are dedicated to raising awareness of community needs in Southeast Louisiana and mobilizing their colleagues to give, advocate, and volunteer.

These volunteers dedicate their time and energy to making a difference in Southeast Louisiana. They create opportunities for their team to contribute in ways that align with their values, focusing on improving the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community.

ECCs can often be found uniting their coworkers in team-building fundraising events like fishing rodeos, golf tournaments, friendly cook-offs, and more. These fundraising efforts serve as a bridge between workplace partners and our United Way, ensuring the collective generosity of the region translates into meaningful change for our vulnerable neighbors.

In addition to engaging events, ECCs encourage participation in their employee giving campaign. They know United Way helps every dollar donated generate $7.67 in local community impact, and they’ve witnessed how that impact ripples throughout our community.

Here at United Way, we're proud to partner with incredible ECCs who are committed to making a difference. So this National Volunteer Week, we celebrate all the ways our corporate partners engage their employees in volunteerism.

Thinking about how your company can get involved? We'd love to partner with you. United Way of Southeast Louisiana makes it easy to connect your workplace with a wide range of meaningful opportunities that align with your company's values and employee skillsets.
