United Way accepting donations to support storm relief, recovery efforts

COVID-19’s economic impacts created urgent need for funding in the wake of Hurricane Laura

NEW ORLEANS — United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA) is accepting public donations to its Disaster Relief Fund to support struggling households affected by Hurricane Laura.

All proceeds will support immediate relief efforts already underway and long-term rebuilding and community grants to partner organizations providing direct services to assist with recovery.

NEW ORLEANS – United Way of Southeast Louisiana announced Wednesday the donation of critical goods and services -- including Uber rides, toilet paper rolls and personal protective equipment -- to community partners throughout Southeast Louisiana.

NEW ORLEANS— United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA) has awarded GNO, Inc. $50,000 from its COVID-19 Relief Fund to examine digital literacy and technological upskilling needs of workers in industries hard-hit by COVID-19.

That night, George Floyd’s senseless death provided yet another stark reminder that we, as a people, are not doing enough to promise the most basic of freedoms and equal access to justice to everyone. Especially people of color.
