Senate Bill 254, Equal Pay by Senator J.P. Morrell, will be voted on in the House Labor Committee on Thursday, May 19th at 9:30AM in House Committee Room 5 at the State Capitol!
We’ve passed the Senate floor and now it’s time to continue the work in the House of Representatives.
Insights From a United Way Intern
I’m a senior at Birmingham-Southern College graduating with a degree in Global Comparative Studies and Spanish. When I began weighing my options for how to spend my final term (a four week “semester” at BSC where students can take a class on campus, participate in a travel project, do some sort of independent study, or just take the month off!) I realized that it was time for me to get some real world experience and do something outside of the classroom.

Children Aging Out of Foster Care Need Help
Studies show that young people leaving foster care at 18 years old before being connected to a permanent family through adoption, returning home to parents or having a relative take custody of them, have very poor outcomes compared to their peers. The youth have increased incidence of homelessness and involvement in the criminal justice system and lower educational achievement.

Realtors, the oldest and largest real estate and home services operation in the Gulf South, is teaming up with the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation (NOPJF) and United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA) to address the two ends of the crime prevention spectrum: poverty eradication and neighborhood protection.
