Community Impact Volunteer Conflict of Interest

CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY DEFINED

Volunteers serving on the Grant Committee enter into a special relationship with the United Way and agencies funded by or requesting support from the United Way. This relationship requires protection against possible conflicts of interest, or appearance of conflict of interest. To ensure grants which are fair, responsible and free of personal bias, and which reflect the leadership role that donors have assigned to the United Way, the following define conflict of interest for volunteers serving with Community Impact.

Community Impact Volunteer Application

United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA) is seeking 35 community volunteers to serve as grant reviewers to help read and rate program grant proposals for our Blueprint for Prosperity program grants. UWSELA is seeking knowledgeable volunteers; especially those who are subject matter experts as peer reviewers to objectively evaluate a competitive group of grant applications against the criteria in the Blueprint for Prosperity Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).

We’re not your grandfather’s United Way.

One of the largest challenges United Way of Southeast Louisiana’s staff members face is explaining that what people think they know about our organization may not be the case.

Thirty years ago, when many of “our parents” were in the workforce, their companies would run a United Way campaign and employees would have the opportunity to choose which charities they wanted to donate to through the ease of payroll deduction.

Welcome to the Poverty: Information Sharing Corner

Many of our social problems have the same root cause - Poverty. We held 63 listening sessions in our seven-parish region and identified POVERTY as United Way's 'Big Issue' going forward. We've put our stake in the ground. We want businesses and individuals to join us in developing strategies and partnerships. Together we can educate and empower people to help lift them out of poverty. We can create a stronger, better community.

What a Great Day to Give!

At the end of a four-day shopping extravaganza that includes Black Friday, ShopLocal Saturday and Cyber Monday, a more recent “Global Day” is taking place. Giving Tuesday is a day of giving back. On this day, today, December 1st, individuals around the world will come together to celebrate the spirit of giving and generosity.
