St. Tammany Red Beans Cook-Offs Raise over $22,000 for Suicide Prevention, Other Programs
The 2022 East and West St. Tammany Red Beans ‘N Rice Cook-Offs served up delicious beans, stirred up friendly rivalries, and raised up funds for a cause near to all of our hearts.
Local law enforcement agencies, first responders, government offices, businesses, and community members rally every year for this fundraiser for suicide prevention, mental health services, and other United Way programs serving St. Tammany Parish.
This year marked the return of the West cook-off to in-person, and it was amazing to see the Slidell Municipal Auditorium filled with cooking teams and eager taste-tasters again!
Mental health is a serious and often hidden issue in our community. In 2020, suicide was the third leading cause of death among individuals age 10-34 in Louisiana. Together, we can help prevent these tragic deaths by ensuring mental health and crisis supports are available to everyone. The 2022 cook-offs raised over $22,000 to support these efforts.
