Overview
JFS is a social service nonprofit serving individuals and families of all faiths and identities in the Greater New Orleans area. Our services and programs are dedicated to preserving, strengthening and enhancing the well-being and self-sufficiency of individuals and families at every stage of life. We provide Older Adult Services, Affordable and Accessible Counseling, Case Management, Free Youth Suicide Prevention Education, Services for Youth Refugees, and so much more.

Success Story
After his mother died when he was just five years old, Jacob* went to live with his grandmother. At 63, widowed, and her only child deceased, Bonnie* was not quite sure what to make of her new life. Jacob was also confused. He threw frightening tantrums that involved biting and kicking. He never wanted to be alone. He began to push and hit children in his kindergarten. Bonnie knew she needed professional help, so she reached out to JFS. Bonnie and Jacob were assigned a case manager and each received counseling. Jacob was not only grieving but suffering intense anxiety. Through family and individual counseling, Bonnie came to understand Jacob's difficult behaviors and learned how to support him. Jacob learned coping mechanisms and that he could trust his grandmother.
