Young Leaders Movement

Greetings! I'm Beatrice Forlano, the incoming chair of United Way of Southeast Louisiana's young professionals' affinity group, the Young Leaders Movement (YLM).

Last year, a small focus group of people under 40 generated ideas on how to engage young professionals in the work of the United Way. That process led to the creation of the Young Leaders Movement (YLM). Our goal is to develop the next generation of philanthropic leaders by engaging young professionals from diverse industries and backgrounds.

We are still in the developmental stages and looking for passionate, excited individuals who want to be part of building the movement from the ground up! We will be exploring partnerships and events with a focus on teaching skills and mentoring to younger generations. Help make a difference in the communities we live and work in and also to network and have a little fun with other young leaders in our community!

We are currently looking for Committee Chairs to take their involvement to the next level by planning programs and initiatives for YLM.  These Chairs will serve as a steering committee and leadership board for YLM and will have a significant role in creating a vision and direction for the group.  Learn more about our committees and our membership levels.

As a part of GiveNOLA Day, our next Happy Hour event will be on May 3rd at Louisiana Pizza Kitchen, 615 S Carrollton Ave, New Orleans, LA 70118. Please come and join us! Dining with a Purpose benefits a different charity/group each week and lasts all day long and includes lunch, dinner and take out. Simply write United Way YLM on your bill and 25% of your total will be donated to United Way. Stay tuned for more details on the Happy Hour, this is a great opportunity to see what we are all about from some current members!
