Thank You, ALICE

Thank You, ALICE®

Grocery store employees. Delivery drivers. Warehouse workers. First responders. Child care workers. Truck drivers. Sanitation workers. There are many people who are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 outbreak, keeping our community safe and our region running.

For many of these workers, known as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), being essential is nothing new. ALICE works hard in jobs that are critical, but often don’t pay enough for them to make ends meet.

ALICE is Always Essential

The coronavirus pandemic is shining a bright light on the important role ALICE workers play in our community. What happens if no one is around to put more bread on the shelves, fill an important prescription, or teach your child? Despite living paycheck to paycheck, ALICE workers show up to their jobs day after day to serve others.

Join us as we rally the community to recognize and thank ALICE workers for their dedication during COVID-19 and year-round.

Show Your Appreciation For ALICE

A little kindness goes a long way. Join United Way of Southeast Louisiana and our partners as we Unite our community to say thank you to the essential ALICE workers who have tirelessly and bravely continued to do their jobs during COVID-19.  Here are a few ways you can get started:

  • Make a gift to Support ALICE: The economic effects of COVID-19 will have a significant, lasting impact on ALICE families who cannot afford to miss work or access health care if they get sick. Make a gift to our COVID-19 Response Fund to help ALICE families endure the long-term challenges ahead.
  • Share Messages of Thanks on Social Media: Every Thursday, we are thanking different ALICE workers on UWSELA’s social media channels. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter and share these posts with your personal thanks and the hashtag #ALICEIsAlwaysEssential
  • Pledge to Fight for ALICE: Nonprofits and businesses are invited to fill out the form below to sign on to United Way SELA’s ALICE is Always Essential Campaign.
