Workplaces recognized at United Way’s Annual Meeting Celebration for contributing more than $4 million to UW annual campaign
NEW ORLEANS – United Way of Southeast Louisiana announced Wednesday Southeast Louisiana’s 2019 Most Generous Workplaces at its annual meeting of members. Collectively, the 10 workplaces contributed $4 million to UWSELA’s 2018-19 Annual Campaign.
These socially conscious workplaces are investing in a more vibrant Southeast Louisiana and its residents through employee contributions, corporate gifts, in-kind support and fundraisers. Their support of UWSELA builds a stronger, more stable workforce, bolsters the region’s economy and improves the health and well-being of the entire community.
The 2019 Top 10 Most Generous Workplaces include the following businesses in Southeast Louisiana:
- Shell (held the #2 position in 2017-18)
- Entergy Corporation
- Valero Meraux Refinery
- Chalmette Refining – PBF Energy
- International Paper
- Pan-American Life Insurance Group
- United Parcel Service
- Hancock Whitney
- Phillips 66 – Alliance Refinery (new to the Top 10)
The Southeast Louisiana Most Generous Workplaces are announced annually and determined by a company’s philanthropic contributions to and through UWSELA during the previous fiscal year.
The meeting also featured the induction of new volunteer leadership positions and board of trustees members. United Way announced Hancock Whitney Region President Gary Lorio as the 2019-20 Board of Trustees Chair, taking over for Robert Kimbro, a recent EY retiree.
Roger Ogden, UWSELA 2018-19 Campaign Cabinet Chair, passed his oversight of the annual campaign to IBERIABANK New Orleans Market President Hunter G. Hill, who will serve as campaign chair for 2019-20.
In addition, new members were elected to UWSELA’s Board of Trustees include:

- Lacey Merrick Conway, Latter & Blum Realtors President/Principal Broker
- Melanie Craig, Peoples Health Administrator, Special Needs Program
- Dr. Takiesha Davis, New Orleans East Hospital CEO
- Elizabeth Ellison-Frost, Chalmette Refining – PBF Energy Community Relations
- Derrick Martin, Algiers Economic Development Foundation Executive Director
- Ted Ruddock, Professional Sales Strategies Principle/Owner
- Robert Tanner, Integrity Financial Business and Corporate Services President and CEO
“In our 95th year, we’re doubling down on our efforts to give people, partners, policy makers and the like the tools and the resources necessary to create the largest impact possible,” said UWSELA President and CEO Michael Williamson. “We’re proud to celebrate our 2018-19 return on investment as we grow every single dollar invested through United Way into $2.66 in impact throughout Southeast Louisiana, and we continue to increase that ROI each year.”
All new appointees will assume their positions on July 1.
