United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA) is seeking community volunteers to serve as grant reviewers to help read and rate program grant proposals for our 2023-2026 Blueprint for Prosperity program grants. UWSELA is seeking knowledgeable volunteers, especially those with lived experience or who are subject matter experts as peer reviewers to objectively evaluate a competitive group of grant applications against the criteria in the Blueprint for Prosperity Programmatic Grants (BPPG). Reviewers are chosen based on their knowledge, education, experience and any criteria included in BPPG that the applicants must respond to.
UWSELA is seeking grant requests across five priority areas aligned with our Blueprint’s Prosperity outcomes that we believe will produce long-term change to sustain our mission of to end poverty. In particular, we will consider proposals that focus on one or more of our four outcomes and five priority areas and align with our guiding principles. Note: preference will be given to organizations addressing the priority areas in each parish. Learn more here.
Every eligible application will be reviewed by a volunteer and a UWSELA staff to obtain an average score. That score will be used to decide on program funding. Estimated time to read a proposal is one hour, with 10 - 12 proposals assigned per reader. UWSELA uses an online grant review process available 24/7 during the evaluation cycle to accommodate reviewer flexibility.
All professionals working in or knowledgeable about these areas are welcomed to submit the attached application.
Requirements
- Volunteers are asked to commit approximately 15 hours to the review process - from April 10, 2023 – May 3, 2023 - including training.
- All reviewers must attend a training. A virtual training will occur on April 10 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Currently funded partners and those seeking funding for 2023-2026 are not eligible.
- Sign a Conflict of Interest form (see below)
- Turn in the volunteer reviewer application, resume, and Conflict of Interest form by Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
