Here we are, laboring through another week with significant trauma on our minds. It’s an all-too-familiar sensation across our country. Even yesterday, word of a potential active shooter in Baton Rouge gave us all pause, and, perhaps, sucked the air from your lungs – at least it did mine.
All good things must come to an end, fortunately for United Way, the end of our St. Tammany Red Beans 'N Rice Cook-Offs marks the start of our Annual Campaign in the parish. I’m pleased to report that we brought in over $35,000 through our East and West events in 2019.

NEW ORLEANS – United Way of Southeast Louisiana today announced that 56,000 local residents saved $5 million on their prescription medications, thanks to its partnership with FamilyWize, an organization focused on improving the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities.
At United Way of Southeast Louisiana, we believe every problem - no matter how complex, systemic, or gut-wrenching - can be solved when fight together.
Our progress made toward equitable communities in 2018 is proof that this mantra is more than words on a page. The only way we can create real, lasting change is through United Way’s Blueprint for Prosperity, bringing people, organizations, and systems together to work toward a common goal – eradicating poverty in Southeast Louisiana.
