April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is an opportunity to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect and promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families.

During the month of April and throughout the year, communities are encouraged to increase awareness and provide education and support to families through resources and strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Sound the Alarm - Save a Life. 

Home fires kill more people every year than all other disasters combined. United Way of Southeast Louisiana has partnered with the American Red Cross to install 1000 smoke alarms in the New Orleans area and we're in need of volunteers. There are several volunteer opportunities available throughout our area.

Women United Members enjoyed a rich and inspiring day at the state Capitol in Baton Rouge on Monday, March 26th. To kick things off, Melanie Bronfin, Director of the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children, led a Press Conference to discuss an urgent issue for our state, early childhood education.
