Sound the Alarm - Save a Life. 

Home fires kill more people every year than all other disasters combined. United Way of Southeast Louisiana has partnered with the American Red Cross to install 1000 smoke alarms in the New Orleans area and we're in need of volunteers. There are several volunteer opportunities available throughout our area. 

Each year during National Volunteer Week, we take the time to recognize the people and organizations that inspire us to serve, recognizing and thanking volunteers who lend their time, talent and voice to make a difference in our community. 

National Volunteer Week, April 15th through the 21st, is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to come together to tackle tough challenges, and build stronger, more resilient communities.

Poverty is one of the key economic influencers of our region and its impact on our workforce can be felt by businesses and the community as a whole.

Women United Members enjoyed a rich and inspiring day at the state Capitol in Baton Rouge on Monday, March 26th. To kick things off, Melanie Bronfin, Director of the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children, led a Press Conference to discuss an urgent issue for our state, early childhood education.

United Way of Southeast Louisiana is bringing together individuals who are retired or nearing retirement and wish to stay active in our community by forming a Retire United affinity group. Through these retirees’ experience and expertise, they will directly contribute to United Way’s mission of eradicating poverty in Southeast Louisiana.
