Nearly Half of Southeast Louisiana Households Struggle to Afford the Basics

Pay the rent or the electric bill? Buy healthy dinner or fill a prescription? The data just released by the United Way ALICE Project reveals that for a staggering 40 percent of households across the country, impossible decisions such as these are a way of life. And when so many families are forced to make difficult choices, everyone is impacted.

Application - Spring 2019

Applications for the spring 2019 semester will be accepted until November 21, 2018. Independent representatives of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and United Way of Southeast Louisiana will review applications. The process will guarantee full diversity and participation from throughout the seven-parish region. Up to 24 participants will be selected per semester.

STEM Northshore

United Way of Southeast Louisiana, Shell, and Keystone engineering have joined together to increase awareness and interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Stem NOLA on the Northshore.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is an opportunity to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect and promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families.

During the month of April and throughout the year, communities are encouraged to increase awareness and provide education and support to families through resources and strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect.
